One Day Trip to Tuross

How to make the most of 24 hours in this coastal haven

Day 1

Morning – Main Beach & One Tree Beach

Sleep in and enjoy a relaxed start to the day. For breakfast, stroll 15 minutes to the Tuross Boatshed & Café or drive just 3 minutes to enjoy their all-day menu. Fuel up for an active morning before heading out for a scenic foreshore ride.

Tuross Head Foreshore Ride

After breakfast, embark on the 12-kilometre Tuross Head Foreshore Ride — an off-road shared pathway that winds along the foreshores of Coila Lake, the ocean, and the Tuross River. Start at Kyla Oval, just a 5-minute drive from your cabin.

Be sure to bring your own bike, helmet, and water bottle for comfort, and return along the same route. Along the way, enjoy sweeping ocean views, dramatic headlands, towering Norfolk Pines, and abundant birdlife — perfect for photography and nature lovers.

Lunch – Picnic or One Tree Inn

Pause at the One Tree Beach Lookout and Picnic Area for a scenic lunch break. Pack a picnic to enjoy with the views, or stop into the One Tree Inn for a relaxed meal while soaking up the surrounding scenery. It’s the perfect spot to recharge before continuing your afternoon adventures.

Afternoon – Plantation Beach & Congo Beach

Continue your ride and stop at Plantation Beach for a leisurely stroll along the sand. Nearby, the Memorial Gardens at Plantation Point are well worth a visit — enjoy the landscaped gardens, ocean views, and a moment of quiet reflection. Spend the afternoon exploring these calm, scenic spots at your own pace.

Evening – Dinner at a Local Spot

Finish your day with a memorable dinner at one of Tuross Head’s popular dining options:

  • The Pickled Octopus Seafood & Thai Café – A waterfront café serving Thai favourites and Aussie classics, with a relaxed atmosphere, stunning water views, and beautiful sunset dining.
  • Club Tuross – Enjoy classic comfort food while taking in views over the lake and ocean.
  • Tuross Boatshed & Café – A laid-back spot known for breakfast, great coffee, and fresh local fish and chips right on the water.

End the evening with a peaceful sunset walk along the beach — the perfect way to round out your day in Tuross Head.
